I love cross-training days, and right now, Mondays are our cross-training days. It gives us both a nice break from running, especially now that the miles have started to add up. Since we have to do our cross-training in the afternoon/early evening, we usually go to the trail closest to our house. It is a nice trail, but the out-and-back style of it makes it difficult to turn around and keep a decent pace. I have another trail I would like us to go try out, but it will probably have to wait until after the marathon. Right now, our only cross-training activity is biking and we love it! Here I am before today’s ride…

And here is Rob…

I wanted to get one of us together, but I couldn’t get the camera to sit correctly using the car as a tri-pod because I left the tri-pod at home. Oh well, there is always next week!

We ended up with a nice 15.25 mile ride tonight, which is an additional 3.25 miles. Usually we only have enough time for 12 miles, but we were able to get out a little bit earlier this evening. We experienced riding on the road for a little bit tonight. That is definitely something you need to get used to, especially in a busy area like ours and at a time when people are heading home from work. It made me a little nervous at times, but we made it and have an idea what to expect next time.

Cross-training nights are usually one of our later workout nights of the week, which makes for a late dinner. Tonight wasn’t too bad, but I was still thankful I had made enough last night, so we could have leftovers for dinner tonight. It makes dinner a little less stressful, easier, and healthier, especially when you are hungry! We had leftover stuffed green peppers for dinner tonight…

and they were just as delicious as the were last night! I remembered to take a picture before I ate it all tonight! Although, it looked a little bit prettier yesterday!

I think yesterday’s rest day did me good because I ended up getting a lot done around the house today, and even had a little bit of time to do some more Triathlon reading before heading out for our ride tonight! Rest days might be difficult, but they are worth it!

Well, I am off to finish my after dinner snack…

which consists of plain non-fat yogurt, fresh blueberries, and Bear Naked Fit Granola (the Vanilla Almond Crunch is my favorite). It is good for you and helps with that sweet tooth as well, so it is a win-win! It is also one of my favorite snacks…morning, noon, or night!

Thanks for reading!
