Yesterday was our long run day and I was just too tired to write up a post! We only had 13.1 miles on the schedule for yesterday, as it was a scale back week, but those 13.1 miles were tough. The weather has not been the best for long runs. It has been super humid and hot! Those have got to be two of the worst combinations for a runner. Despite the heat and humidity, we ended up with a really good half-marathon, but we were thankful that was all we had on the schedule. We finished in 2 hours and 15 minutes, giving us a 10:21 minute per mile pace, not bad at all! This was almost 4 minutes faster than our previous 13.1 mile training run 3 weeks earlier. We are happy with how our marathon training is progressing. We still have 2 really long, long runs on the schedule, which will give us our final preparations as we head into our taper weeks.

We got back from our run yesterday and Rob mentioned that he wanted pizza. It actually sounded really good, so we headed to Little Caesars and picked us up some pizza and crazy bread.

We don’t usually pizza or anything after a long run, but once in a while, it just sounds good. It hit the spot after yesterday’s long run. I was good and only had 2 pieces all day yesterday…

and 2 pieces of crazy bread, and was still under my calorie goal for the day! Just those 2 pieces of pizza and 2 breadsticks were 700 calories! It is amazing how quick those calories add up!

Since I had pizza last night, I decided I needed to have something a little more nutritious to get my rest day off to a good start. So, I started with some oatmeal and a cup of coffee for breakfast, a chicken salad for lunch…

another bowl of oatmeal with some fruit…

a fresh peach…for an afternoon snack. This is one of my favorite ways to get my fruits in for the day. Since I was doing so well today, I broke down…

and had a slice of pizza and a breadstick for dinner tonight. Yummy! But, it definitely doesn’t stay with you as long, so I will be heading out to the kitchen in a little bit for a plate of some fruit and veggies!
