Here it is Wednesday and I am already behind with blogging this week! I thought this week would be a little less busy, but I was wrong. It is alright though because I am enjoying the time I have been putting in to running/training and helping others in the process.

On Monday, I got up at 5 am and headed over to base with Rob for our workout. It was our first day pacing some of the flight in preparation for their 5K next Friday. There were only 5 of us out there Monday, but we still had a good run. Rob and I continued on afterwards to get our 5 miles in for the day, and we even had one other person finish it out with us! It was nice to run with a group, instead of it just being the two of us all the time.

I was tired from getting up early and from our run, so I decided to just stay home the rest of the day and do a few things around the house. You know…laundry, dishes…the boring stuff. I did find some time to do some reading and I ended up finishing this book…

It doesn’t usually take me too long to finish reading a book that has anything to do with running, and this one was no different. What an incredible story, journey, and definitely an inspiration! I didn’t have much left to read, so when I finished I decided to start another running book. I have a decent collection on my bookshelf, which made it had to choose, but I ended up choosing this as my next book…

I have been wanting to read this one for a while now, but just hadn’t had the time or didn’t make the time to sit down and read until recently. Proof of that is the fact that I am still in the process of reading this series, which is totally non-running related…

I am not sure why it has taken me so long to get through this series. Well, it has mainly just been this book, as I flew through the first 2 books in a couple of weeks, but this one has taken me months to get into.

I have a hard time reading just one book at a time, as I tend to get bored with it, so I end up reading 3 or 4 books at a time. Case in point, I  am also reading this series…

You are probably wondering why I am reading “Dairy of a Wimpy Kid” as an adult and am on book number 2 already…

Granted they are very easy reads and relatively short because of the writing and illustrations, but I finished the first one and started the second one last night (Tuesday). I started reading the first one Monday afternoon.

So, why am I reading them? Well, I graduated from college with a BA in English and my Elementary Teaching Certification in December of 2009, and have been doing a lot of substitute teaching since then, as the opportunities for full-time teaching positions have been scarce. I spent a lot of time in the classroom this past school year and I really enjoy seeing what the students are reading. A lot of them were reading these books. They would be reading them throughout the day, even when they weren’t supposed to be, and really engaged in them and laughing while they were reading. This sparked my interest in them and decided I needed to read them myself and see what the fuss was all about. This is how I ended up reading “The Hunger Games” series as well, which I finished reading before completing the “Twilight” saga.

Now that I have started reading the “Dairy of a Wimpy Kid” series, I totally understand why the kids enjoy them. Even as an adult I find them funny and entertaining!

Do you read more than one book at a time?

What book or books are you currently reading?

Despite spending most of the afternoon reading, I did manage to make a delicious dinner…

Homemade turkey burgers on whole wheat bread with fresh asparagus!

And that brings me to Tuesday!

Yesterday, we couldn’t to do our workout until after Rob got home from work, so I decided to go to Annapolis and do some shopping. My first stop was at…

I had never been there before, but I was looking for a specific sweaty band that I mentioned in a previous post. I was just going to order it online, but they wanted $4.95 to ship it, so I figured I would see if they just happened to have it in store since they were a sweaty band dealer. When I walked in, I spotted the sweaty bands right away and started to look through them. I was a little disappointed and then I saw it…

the exact headband I was looking for! I was happy I decided to drive to Annapolis and see if they just might have it! It was the only one they had as well. Of course, I couldn’t just get the headband and leave. I also ended up getting this…

I couldn’t decide if I wanted the 26.2 one or this one, but I ended up getting this one because that is what I do. Run!

Since I was already at the Town Center, I decided to hit up two of my favorite non-running related stores…

Target! I love Target! This is the coolest Target I have ever seen, as it is on the 3rd floor! I really didn’t NEED anything, but decided I needed to check it out anyway, and ended up buying this…

This is absolutely my favorite show on TV right now! I watch it every chance I get! And now, I can watch all 5 seasons whenever I want! Sheldon is my favorite, followed by Penny!

Do you watch The Big Bang Theory?

Who is your favorite character(s)?

What TV shows do you watch?

After Target I headed over to…

I love this store as well! They just have so many neat gadgets and other stuff that I really don’t need! I always have to go in and look around!

I still had one more stop while I was in Annapolis, but that was downtown, so off I went! Of course, as I was getting ready to cross the bridge, I would get stopped for the drawbridge…

This took at least 5 minutes, so I decided to take another picture of the beautiful view I was able to enjoy while I waited…

I love this part of Maryland! Yesterday was a gorgeous day to be down there too!

When I was finally able to cross the bridge, I hit up one of my other favorite running stores…

It actually took me longer to get there than it did to get what I needed…a new sports bra! Oh well! It was too nice of a day to stay inside anyway! I came home and had some lunch…

A chicken wrap and a fresh peach! I was starving after all that shopping! 🙂 I did some more reading while I waited for Rob to get home from work, so we could go and do our workout.

Yesterday we biked 12 miles and then did a 1.1 mile run to remember those whose lives were lost 11 years ago in NYC, PA, and D.C. It was the least we could do, as we will never forget!

It was a late workout, so we came home, showered, ate dinner (homemade chicken stir-fry), and watched a few episodes of The Big Bang Theory! Told you!

And here we are at Wednesday! Today started at 5 am! We got up and headed over to base for another flight practice 5K. We had a much bigger group this morning…around 15 of us! It was a good run, as we had another cool morning, but it took my hands 2 miles to finally warm-up! After the 3.1 miles, Rob and I continued on to finish out our 8 miles for the day. We had one guy join us for the first 5 miles and another guy finished out the entire 8 with us! It is a great feeling to be helping others! This is something I never thought I would be doing as a runner, but so glad that I am!

Now that our workout is done for the day, I have some time to do some more reading before it is time to make tonight’s dinner. I enjoy cooking, but sometimes I wish I had my own personal chef! Any takers? 🙂

Hope you all have a wonderful day and week!

Thanks for reading!
