This week has been about paying it forward for us through our running! What an amazing feeling it is to help and encourage others with through running!

Last week, Rob came home and told me that we had an opportunity to help his flight get ready for their 5K on September 21st. He said it would be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of this week, as well as, Monday and Wednesday the following week. They wanted us to hold some running sessions and pace them for 3.1 miles each time. Of course, I was excited to do this, even though it meant getting up at 5 am! I am not usually very good about getting up early in the morning, but for running…now that is a different story!

We completed our third running session this morning! It has been awesome to see other people start to enjoy running as well. Since we are marathon training, we continue on after the 3.1 miles and either run 5 or 8 miles total, depending what is on the schedule for that day. Twice this week we had one guy finish out both a 5 mile run and an 8 mile run. The 8 mile run was the furthest he has ever run! He didn’t tell us until we were done though. We were so happy and excited for him!

Our group number changes from day-to-day, but regardless of how many people there are there, we still run and encourage them to do their best. We only have two more sessions left before the 5K and I am kind of sad that it will be ending. I have enjoyed doing this!

When Rob mentioned this opportunity to me, I got to thinking and decided I was going to submit my application to Girls On The Run. I had been thinking about it for a while, and this gave me that final push to go for it! I submitted my application to be a coach/assistant coach for one of the schools in the county that I substitute teach in. I received conformation yesterday that I will be coaching with 2 other coaches at one of the schools that was in jeopardy of not even having a Girls On The Run program because they didn’t have enough volunteers. I am so excited! We start next Wednesday, September 19th! Right now, there are only 4 girls signed up, but hopefully more will sign up once we start.

I couldn’t be happier with my decision to take on these two opportunities. I love to run and want to inspire and encourage others in the process! I am so excited to work with these girls!

It sure does! I can wait to see where it takes me next!
