Today is a good day for some blogging, reading, and catching up on DVR’d shows. They are calling for some nasty weather to hit us this afternoon, so I decided I should probably blog and watch some TV while we still have power!
I figured since I was going to watch last night’s “CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night To Shine”…
I might as well type up a blog at the same time! Are there any other country music fans out there? Who is your favorite country singer/band? I mostly listen to country music, so I have a lot of favorites, but my absolute favorite is Carrie Underwood! I have loved her since her “American Idol” days, and she has only gotten better!
Speaking of singers and singing…Anyone else watching “The Voice?” I finally got caught up with it yesterday and watched last night’s episode when it was actually on. I am loving “The Voice.” This is my first time watching it, as I have always been a big “American Idol” fan; however, I am not too happy with the changes happening on “American Idol” so I am not sure if I will be able to get into it this season. I am definitely becoming a fan of “The Voice” though!
We had another busy weekend, which is why I am just getting to writing up another blog, and it looks like things are only going to get busier!
Saturday we had a shorter long run, since it was a scale back week, at 12 miles. We had great weather for it too! It was only in the 60’s! It is amazing how much of a difference the weather can make. We finished our 12 miles in just under 2 hours, so that was a good run for us! Then Saturday night I had Bunco with the ladies, which is always a lot of fun.
Sunday I woke up hungry for pancakes, but I didn’t want just plain pancakes. So, I found a recipe for Pumpkin Spice Pancakes! They turned out great…
and super yummy too! I added a little bit of butter and syrup to them, but they are good plain or with just some butter on them too.
After breakfast we headed over to the trail for a cross-training ride, since we wouldn’t be able to get it in any other day this coming week due to changing up our training schedule again. It was a great day for a 12 mile ride! Then we came back and did some cleaning both inside and outside.
Yesterday (Monday), we were back to our early morning routine. We headed over to base to run, but unfortunately no one else showed up! So we just did our 5 mile run and called it a day. I spent the rest of the day doing a few things around the house and watching “The Voice.” It ended up being kind of a lazy day after our run for me. I think I am just tired from the schedule change and it is taking my body some time to get used to it.
As I mentioned last week, I started reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, well I finished book 6 last night! The next book in the series doesn’t come out until mid-November, so now maybe I can concentrate on Christopher McDougall’s book, Born To Run, which I am hoping to dive into today! We were planning on running today, but since we can’t do it until after Rob gets home from work, we are not sure we are going to be able to get it in because of the weather they are calling for…severe thunderstorms with a tornado watch. We will see! If not, we will run Thursday instead of today. That’s one thing about marathon training, you have to be able to be flexible.
Speaking of the marathon, we will be in Baltimore running it in 25 days! We are currently on week 15 of our training program and things are going really well. We have our last super long run this Saturday, a 20 miler, and then we start to taper. I am starting to get really excited for the marathon!
Tomorrow is my first day of coaching for Girls On The Run (GOTR), which I am very excited about as well! Thankfully, the weather is supposed to be much better tomorrow! Next week is when things are really going to get busy, as I will be doing some substitute teaching, and have a few days lined up in October already! Even though it is going to get busy, I am looking forward to it because staying at home all the time gets boring! Plus, there are some races I am thinking about doing and a new gadget that I would like to get, so I need to work!
Since we are going to be starting our triathlon training at the end of October, I have been looking at the Garmin Swim to use during my training. Does anyone have the Garmin Swim? If so, thoughts/reviews for it? I know that it is fairly new, so there have been some mixed reviews about it. I already have the Garmin 405cx and don’t want to spend $450 on the new Garmin 910xt, just for the swimming features. However, I do want something to count laps and everything for me, so I don’t have to worry about that while I am trying to work on my form.
I am very excited for everything that is to come, so watch for some new blog posts in the very near future!
Thanks for reading!
