Yes, there are definitely days when running is the only thing that makes sense. It doesn’t matter how far or how fast you go, as long as you go, because you know you will feel so much better once you are done.

Today was one of those days where running just made sense and I wanted to run, but my body was tired. Did I still run? Yes, I did! Did I feel better afterwards? Absolutely! Did I want to get out of bed this morning to do it? Nope.

Despite not wanting to get out of bed to go run, we had a pretty good run this morning. It was an early workout today because Rob had to work later than normal. It was our third day in a row running, it was chilly out, and we were tired! Running in the morning is much different than running later in the day, but we got it done. The positives are 1) the workout gets done early, 2) we have energy for the rest of the day, and 3) we have almost 2 full days to recover before Saturday’s long run!

Here are our splits for today’s run:

1— 9:15
2— 9:17
3— 9:11
4— 9:15
5— 8:58

Average pace: 9:11 which is about the same as yesterday, but it felt much harder!

After our run I came home, stretched and did Les Mills Pump-Hard Core Abs. Tough workout, especially after a 5 mile run, but have to keep working on that core.

Breakfast after a good workout.

4 egg whites, tomatoes, red bell pepper, mushrooms, onions, and 2 slices of light whole wheat toast.

After a late breakfast and messing around on the computer (for way longer than I should have) it was time to take Dasha for her long walk, which is about a mile. She loves her walks and knows when you are late taking her. She is a little creature of habit that’s for sure! At least it was a nice day for a walk.

Since dinner was so good last night, I decided I would have a salad for lunch today.

I forgot that I didn’t have anymore chicken, but decided to have it anyway, and added some white cheese for a little extra protein. It was just as good as last night. Since I had a lot of vegetables between breakfast and lunch, I realized I needed some fruit, so I had a banana on the side.

After lunch, I decided it was time to get a few things done in the kitchen. I had to cut up some veggies for a veggie tray for Rob to take to work tomorrow, so I did that while I was making these.

Yep, another Pinterest recipe! My version is a little different than the version seen here. These are mini eggplant pizzas. I had some eggplant that I needed to use up, so it didn’t go bad, but I didn’t have enough for the Eggplant Parmesan that I really wanted to make. The eggplant that I had wasn’t very big, so my pizzas ended up being mini, but they taste great! They are a nice sized healthy snack.

For dinner, as promised, Chicken Ratatouille.

Tonight’s Chicken Ratatouille was with quinoa for some extra carbs because we ran this morning. It was wonderful and very filling!

Who else ran today?

Do you prefer to workout in the morning, afternoon, or evening?

— I prefer to workout in the early afternoon, usually around 1:30 or 2:00 is when I get the urge to workout. Right now during marathon training, we usually run in the late afternoon/early evening, except for Saturday and we run in the morning.

Do you like eggplant?

— I didn’t until recently, but now I love it!

Do you have any pets?

— We have a beagle/lab mix named Dasha. We also have a cat, Whiskers, who is currently staying with my parents back in the U.S. I miss her!
