I definitely enjoyed my relaxing Friday. I didn’t get up until almost 10 o’clock, which is unusual for me. I really don’t like sleeping in that late because I feel like my whole day is gone, but I must have needed the extra sleep this morning. Maybe I knew it would be my last chance to really sleep in for awhile.

I started my day with a cup of coffee and some oatmeal. My normal breakfast.

Speaking of coffee, I recently read an article entitled The 8 Things Runners Should Know About Coffee. It was an interesting article. I specifically liked this point that the article made.

Caffeine (in coffee or otherwise) improves performance… Hundreds of studies have shown that consuming caffeine before a physical challenge likely helps subjects go farther and faster than when they go without it. This effect holds true in studies of both endurance athletes and sprinters.

I always feel better after my morning cup of coffee. Will I have some the morning of my race? No, because I have never tried it before a long run. So, I will stick to what I know works best for me before a race.

It was beautiful, but chilly here in Ankara today.

I will take a little chilly over cloudy and dreary like we had yesterday though!

The rest of my day consisted of an ab workout (Les Mills Pump, of course), laundry, cleaning up the kitchen, walking the dog, and making dinner. I told you it was pretty relaxing, but all of that is about to change starting tomorrow morning!

We will start our day with an 8 mile run. Our last “long” run before the marathon next Sunday! I can’t believe we are only about a week away! It seems like we just started training.

After our run, we will have some time to shower, eat, and walk the dog, before it is time to head over to a friend’s house to get ready for the ball. I have tried on my dress 3 times in the last 2 days. I had my dress altered yesterday, so I wanted to make sure it was the correct length to go with my shoes. It is perfect! I know I said no pictures of the dress until after the ball, but I just can’t wait any longer. So, here is a sneak peak of my dress.

You will have to wait until Sunday to see the rest!

Deciding on a dress was the easy part. Hair is another story. All 5 of us girls are getting our hair done tomorrow and I still don’t know exactly how I want my hair done. I have found five different styles that I like. I think I have it narrowed down to just two of them though.

I am leaning more towards the top picture because I don’t think I want all of my hair to be pulled up. I do want some curl to it though! Decisions, decisions. Maybe I won’t even go with one of these. I guess you will just have to find that out on Sunday too! 🙂

Tomorrow is jam packed, but it is going to be so much fun! We have a group of 10 of us all sitting at one table. It is going to be a blast!

Sunday might be a little more relaxing, as it will depend on what time we get home from the ball. Most likely, we will spend Sunday getting some groceries and snacks to take with us to Istanbul.

The rest of the week will be spent working out and getting everything ready for our flight to Istanbul Friday morning. I need to start packing early for this trip because I don’t want to forget anything. I did find this list from Brooks Running to help guide me though.

There’s some stuff I will need to add/take-off those lists, but at least it will get me going in the right direction. This is the first time I have had to pack for a race. We never had to travel to a race before, so I am super nervous about forgetting something important!

The hardest part about going to Istanbul is going to be leaving this face.

I love her so much! We will be in Istanbul until Tuesday, but won’t actually see her until sometime on Thursday! Why? Well, after we get back from Istanbul Tuesday afternoon, we are heading to the southern part of Turkey for a couple of days. One trip right after the other! It will be fun and our first road trip here in Turkey.

We have so much fun and exciting stuff happening over the next couple of weeks! I can’t wait to share our adventures with all of you!
