310890_235564529819756_113859451990265_660914_6325461_nI used to think I wasn’t deserving enough to be healthy, but then I realized I was deserving and WORTH it! You have to believe in yourself before anyone else is going to believe in you. So why not you?! You are worth it!

I think motivation and staying motivated is probably the hardest part about becoming healthy. You have to ask yourself, “why do I want to do this?” You have to want it for yourself and no one else. It is that simple. Do it for YOU!

Do I struggle with eating healthy and staying motivated? Of course, I am human. Though some of you probably don’t believe that! ๐Ÿ™‚



Finding the motivation to workout is difficult sometimes, even for me. Today was one of those days. After 2 days of complete rest, ie. no workouts, it was hard to get myself motivated to get up and moving today. I find it is easier to workout, even just a little bit, everyday. You don’t have to workout hard everyday. Honestly, it isn’t good for your body to do so, but a little bit everyday helps to keep the motivation there, at least for me.

Here are a few things that I do to stay motivated:

1. Put my workout clothes on.

2. Train for a race or an event.

3. Schedule my workouts.

4. Have a workout partner.

5. Read running related books/articles/magazines.

6. Watch motivating television shows. For example, The Biggest Loser or Extreme Weight Loss.

7. Read other workout blogs.

8. Post my workouts. This helps to keep me accountable!

Motivation gets the best of everyone at some point, but you have to remember the reason why you are doing what you are doing. For me, it is to be healthy and happy. Running/working out makes me happy! I always feel better after a run/workout, even if I didn’t want to do it in the first place.

I felt much better after today’s workout and ended up getting a lot accomplished around the house too. Working out gives me more energy to get through the rest of my day. Today’s workout consisted of 16 minutes of Les Mills Pump-Hard Core Abs, a 1/2 mile warm-up walk, a 3 mile run (9:20 pace), a 0.65 mile cool down walk, and 21 minutes of stretching.

My motivation right now…the Istanbul Marathon!
