You know it is almost marathon time when…

5 days before the BIG day you are already dreaming about it. I usually don’t dream about the marathon until a night or two before the marathon, but not this time. I was talking about it and thinking about it a lot on Tuesday, so I believe that is what triggered my running dream. It wasn’t only part of the night, but the whole night. That is all I dreamed about! Everything about it too, not just the running part of it.

This marathon is a whole new experience for us because we have never had to travel before, so it is a bit more stressful. However, we are all packed and ready to go!

That is only my stuff in the picture, but Rob is all packed and ready to go as well. The packing and making sure we had everything was better than I thought it was going to be. I really thought it was going to take forever, but it was actually pretty quick. I made a list and double checked it today, just to make sure I had everything.

You check the weather forecast at least 10 days in advance and then multiple times a day as the day gets closer and closer. We are looking at some pretty decent weather for Sunday, as of about 5 minutes ago, but I am a little bit nervous about the wind.

Although I will take the 17 mph winds over the possibility of rain, which they were calling for earlier in the week. Sunday is looking pretty nice!

You total miles for the week are less than the previous week’s long run. We had 3 runs this week for a total of 7 miles! Yesterday and today’s runs were only 2 miles each. It takes me almost as long to get ready as it does to run 2 miles! I kept the runs both days easy and comfortable.

Wednesday’s 2 mile run — 8:54 pace.

Today’s 2 mile run — 9:05 pace.

Today was the last run before the marathon on Sunday! We will be doing some walking tomorrow and Saturday to keep the legs moving and to see Istanbul, of course!

You are already thinking…

Runfaster

I think the best part of a marathon is the last couple of miles. I love it! The crowd support coming down the chute to the finish line is amazing.

Paint your fingernails and toenails…

pretty

I almost never paint my fingernails and toenails, but I try to remember to do so before a race. Why? I have no idea. I guess so they look good. And maybe so if I happen to get a black toenail (hasn’t happened yet) nobody will know. 😉

Purple fingers and toes for Istanbul!

Well, this is it! We are off to Istanbul tomorrow! I am hoping to be able to do some quick posts tomorrow and Saturday, but it will all depend on if we have free internet at the hotel. The website site says we do, but I am still crossing my fingers because you that is not always the case here.

If not, I will be back as soon as possible with an update on our time in Istanbul and a marathon recap! So check back soon! 🙂
