I am so HAPPY with today’s run!
I am still trying to figure out what to eat before these harder runs. I don’t have as much time after I eat to let it settle because it is just getting too warm too fast. I felt MUCH better after a small snack before today’s run…
Decided to try 12 oz of water, a banana, and energize mixed with 8 oz of water before I ran today. I gave myself about 30 minutes afterwards before I went out to run and no issues! Wahoo! 🙂
It’s another HOT one here in KC today, so I made sure to get out earlier this morning. It was already in the 70’s by 7:30 this morning and humid! So glad that a cool front is headed our way tomorrow.
On the schedule today was my first tempo run. I like tempo runs so much better than speed work!
GOAL for today was…
~ 2 miles easy
~ 2 miles between 7:23 & 7:35
~ 2 miles easy
It was nice to only focus on 2 miles at a time, instead of thinking that I needed to run 6 miles!
When my run gets a thumbs up, you know it was a good one! 🙂
How it actually went…
~ 2 miles easy @ 8:47 pace
~ 2 miles between 7:23 & 7:35 — SO CLOSE to that 7:23 — 7:24 pace
~ 2 miles easy @ 8:27 pace
Overall pace was an 8:13 for 6 miles.
I am actually very surprised by my EASY miles, but after a 7:24 pace for the middle 2 miles, those last 2 miles felt like I was crawling.
After my 1/2 mile cool down walk, it was time to re-hydrate and walk the pups. I decided to walk the easy one first, aka Dasha, so I could drink my hydrate along the way.
I can’t believe she actually was looking at the camera! 🙂
Then it was time to walk our new baby, Dakota, aka our wild child! She is doing so much better though and actually enjoys her walks now, as you can tell from her smile.
Looking for trouble…
We even walked through a sprinkler! Boy, did that feel good! That sun was HOT!
